The story
Brent Laflin is a sculptor, musician and licensed clinical social worker based in New Vineyard, Maine. He holds a BFA in sculpture and a master’s degree in social work. Alongside his work in mental health therapy, he creates whimsical sculptures from salvaged metal and found objects, turning discarded parts into unexpected new forms, from a Rolls-Royce gas tank transformed into shelving to bicycle gears reimagined as a sunflower. A musician for more than 40 years, Brent writes thought-provoking original songs and puts his own spin on favorites from the 1970s and 1980s through today. He performs both as a solo artist and with his band, Brent & The Burn Permits.
